It is national natural monument and it is the biggest tarn in Low Tatras, is large 0,73 ha, its maximum hight is 8 m, long 115 m and spread is 62 m.
It is situated on morainal uphill of north Chopok botton in Demänovská valley. It is morainal lake, which arise when iceberg bleng from north hills of Chopok and Dereše. From lake leak out Otupnianka. For fixed surface the barrier was repair.
The main reason for safety is well known event of iceberg tarn in Low Tatras.
This protected territory have also guard band of 24,71 ha. Surroudings of Vrbické tarn have good access. On lake side are situated objects of tourist centre Jasná.
From year 1975 it is natural monument.
