They are Greater Fatra, Choc Mountains, Low Tatras. The town provides excellent possibilities of cultural and turistic activities. First reference about Ruzomberok dates back to 1233. Ruzomberok Town was granted town privileges in 1318 under the authority of Degree Knight Donc. Today the city has about 31,000 inhabitants.

It is an economic and a cultural center of the Lower Liptov with a variety of historical and cultural monuments and excellent conditions for tourism development. It is a significant center of paper industry in Slovakia. On the stroll throught the town can be seen the renewed Andrej Hlinka Square, the gothic parish church, preserved craftsmen houses from the 18th and the 19th century and a Neo-baroque town hall.

The Liptov Museum is located here along with the Ludovit Fulla Gallery. Near the town of Ruzomberok is located a *village Vlkolinec*, listed in the prestigious UNESCO list. The town offers various facilities: sports stadium, football stadium, wintersports stadium, swimming pool, basketball hall, cinema and for tourism very important SKI park Ruzomberok.
