Basic route: Start at the chata Čertovica cottage, which stands directly in the eponymous saddle (1 238 m) and walk on easternmost stretch of the ridge trail of the Ďumbierske Tatry Mts. Red-marked trail (E8, 0801) starts by an ascent in steep slope straight above the saddle and continues on a milder stretch of the ridge. Shortly after you will come out of the forest to a steep denuded part of the ridge called Lajštroch with nice view of the Kráľovohoľské Tatry Mts. Lajštroch ends at the western part by a little distinct elevation of Rovienky (1 602 m). Then there is the first short descent beyond Rovienky to a shallow saddle. The path forces its way through the thick dwarf pine growth. When you reach the straight stretch before arriving at the Kumštové sedlo saddle (1 549 m) you will get out on grassy slopes. The path crosses with the green hiking mark (5619) at the saddle. The Trail still continues on the main ridge. Along ascent to the Panská hoľa (1 635 m) follows. The next top within the ridge is taller but the path avoids it. After ascending to the Králička Mt. (1 807 m) you will get a wonderful view of the mountain group of Ďumbier and the adjacent Jánska dolina valley. Then you will descent to the crossroads in the shallow hollow under the Králička (1 717 m). Turn right onto the yellow marked path (8428). Go down the slope along the remains of the past mining activities and short switchbacks will carry you to the Jánska doliny valley. The path does not descend as low as the bottom of the valley, it turns to the slightly descending traverse at the middle of the slope. The oblique path will lead you to the grassy Bocianske sedlo saddle (1 506 m). The path crosses again the green-marked trail, which ascends to the Rovná hoľa Mt. However, your route leads from the saddle like tour on “The Ohnište Mt.” to the village of Vyšná Boca. Descend to the Starobocianska dolina valley. In the upper part of the stretch walk down the switchbacks of an old mining road and somewhat lower you will ascend to moderately descending cart road. Walking along the Boca brook you will descend as far as the Pod Starou Bocou crossroads. You will get to the Vyšná Boca (951 m) sticking to the frequented main road.
